How Homeschooling and This New Situation of Schooling from Home Can Be the Best for Your Family
Hi there, fellow homeschooling parents! Whether you have chosen this lifestyle and learning style or like so many Americans right now the decision was made for you…
Homeschooling mom like you
I want to let you know take a deep breath, put those rose-colored glasses on and make the most of this time!!
My name is Audrea Zigler and we have been homeschooling our son since birth I like to say… ? well technically since school age, but teaching someone how to walk and talk while feeding them is homeschooling too!
As of 2020 my son is 10 years old and loves so many aspects of our homeschooling from lots of outside time to reading great books together as a family to independent time to discover more about his interests.
Studies tell us when we individualize the learning for our kids and really make it a whole view approach they thrive and excel! And we as families do too!
Schools under-serving students
Did you know that results from a recent study show that 82% of schools in the U.S. are not best-serving their students?

Wow! I know for me as a public schooled mom, our family deciding to homeschool opened up a whole new way of thinking, processing and lifestyle for our family. Was I worried our son was going to fall behind? Was I worried he would “fit in?” In the beginning of course.. but then after seeing for myself the growth in him and us and meeting lots of other families we knew we had embarked on a fantastic new lifestyle and have not looked back since!
Now you may love the school your kiddos are/were going to and that is awesome!
But right now they are not.. so you get to decide to make the most of this given opportunity or try and recreate school at home instead just learning together as a family.
How to make homeschooling easier
Three easy ways to make the most of this time!
1. Throw the idea of school schedules out of the window. Make a schedule that works best for your family and focus on making a flow and rhythm at your house that serves everyone in your family! It does NOT have to look like anyone else’s ?
2. Focus on Life skills you want them to learn. If your kids have been wanting to learn how to cook, now is the best time! Tired of doing their laundry? Teach them how! Want to learn how to grow some food? Order some seeds and go at it!
3. Community is key right now! Reaching out and connecting with others helps all of us make the best of this time! I would personally love to connect with you and share more about what we have learned along our homeschool and wellness journey. You can reach me at all the social platforms and send me an email via auzigler@yahoo.com!
Finally, from my homeschooling family to yours: we got this together, and this will be a time when you will learn so much and look back with great memories!!
